The Nova 3E follows on the design guidelines of past Huawei-branded smartphones, but the Chinese company seems to have reduced the bezels further by putting all the sensors under the notch. It does have a bottom chin where the Huawei branding sits. GizmoChina reports that the smartphone measures 148.6×71.2×7.4mm in dimensions, and weighs around 145 grams. In terms of specifications, the Huawei Nova 3E features a 5.8-inch display with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels, which translates to an aspect ratio of 19:9. The aspect ratio is even taller than the 18:9 now standard on thin bezel smartphones, and the 18.5:9 aspect ratio adopted by Samsung. Powering the device is Huawei’s own mid-range Kirin 659 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM, and option for either 64GB or 128GB internal storage.
Huawei is known for pioneering dual-camera setup on smartphones, and the new Nova 3E is being marketed as the first smartphone with 24-megapixel Sony IMX578 sensor up front. The smartphone is being dubbed as selfie beast, which is understandable as the smartphone will take on Vivo X21 and Oppo R15. Huawei says the new image sensor brings 20 percent increase in resolution, 33 percent decrease in noise in low-light conditions, and 26 percent increase in color reproduction.
The Nova 3E also comes with beauty algorithms, hardware level HDR, LCD smart light setting. The back of the device is home to a combination of 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual camera system that enables shooting in bokeh mode. The Nova 3E runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo, and supports features like face unlock, smart screen notifications, and voice assistant.
The Nova 3E houses a 3,000mAh battery, and supports fast charging via bundled 18W charger. The Nova 3E is priced at RMB 1,999 (around Rs 20,000) for the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant. The model with 128GB storage is priced at RMB 2,199 (around Rs 22,000). Pre-sale starts today at 6:00PM in China, and the first sale will be held on March 27.
