On Monday, Honor, the e-brand of Huawei showcased the upcoming View20 smartphone with an in-screen camera and 48-megapixel rear image sensor. The Chinese online brand beat Samsung and its parent Huawei to become the first smartphone maker with such a technology. However, Samsung and Huawei are set to beat Honor by offering first devices with in-screen camera technology.
Samsung has already launched its Galaxy A8s with a punch-hole camera solution and Huawei is set to launch its own smartphone with a camera placed under the display on December 17. Ahead of its launch next week, the smartphone has leaked in the form of renders, confirming some of the key features. These purported official renders posted by Droid Shout reiterates some of the known features and reveals the colors that will be available at launch.
The renders, if legit, hint at Huawei Nova 4 being a sleek device with an almost edge-to-edge display. There is a tiny chin at the bottom but the lack of a notched display at the top allows for an all-screen look. It features an in-screen camera placed on the top left corner of the device similar to the Honor View20.
The renders also confirm that it will feature a triple rear camera stacked vertically similar to Honor Magic 2 and Huawei P20 Pro. The Huawei Nova 4, while technologically advanced, will miss out on in-display fingerprint sensor. It is now expected to ship with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Huawei Nova 4 is also tipped to use the 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 image sensor on the back. However, there are contradictory reports that not all models will feature that sensor. The Nova 4 was recently teased in gradient honey red color and is now likely to be offered in red/purple, blue/purple, white/pearl gradient color and regular black finish when it becomes available next week.

In terms of specifications, the Huawei Nova 4 is tipped to feature a 6.41-inch display and is likely to be powered by Kirin 980 chipset. However, there have been reports claiming that there will also be variants powered by the Kirin 710 SoC. It is said to come with a 3,900mAh battery and should be priced in the sub-Rs 40,000 price segment.
