Two days ago, Huawei held an event in Paris to unveil the new P20 and P20 Pro smartphones, along with a Porsche Design version of it. Now, the company has confirmed that it will soon be launching the P20 and P20 Pro devices in India. Without revealing much details, Huawei has posted a teaser on its India website, which reads, “Coming Sooon in India”. Clearly, the triple Os in the word Soon hint at the Huawei P20 Pro. And as seen at the Paris event, the P20 Pro is expected to be launched alongside the Huawei P20 model. Now, India pricings are naturally not revealed, but the Huawei P20 is available in the European market at a price of 649 Euros (approximately 52,200). The P20 Pro will be available starting April 6, 2018 at a price of 899 Euros (approximately Rs 72,200). Huawei P20 specifications and features
As for the specifications and features, the Huawei P20 flaunts a 5.8-inch full HD+ LCD display running at a resolution of 2240 1080 pixels, which gives an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. Under the hood, it is powered by a Kirin 970 octa-core chipset, which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB onboard storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card. The chipset also has dedicated AI component to power apps that can use machine learning.
For photography, the P20 comes with a dual camera setup at the back. One is a 20-megapixel sensor and other is a 12-megapixel sensor. Similar to the new Samsung Galaxy S9+, the cameras also allow slow-motion videos at 960fps in HD (720p) resolution. Up front is a 24-megapixel front AI camera that uses the Kirin 970 SoC NPU to enable Light Fusion to enhance your selfies.
Fuelling the device is a 3,400mAh battery and SuperCharge quick charging technology, the smartphone comes with a USB Type-C port for charging, data transfer and for audio. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE and VoLTE for HD voice calling. In the software department, the P20 runs Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 skin on top, and it also supports Project Treble that will enable faster software updates.
Huawei P20 Pro specifications and features
The Huawei P20 Pro features a larger 6.1-inch full HD+ OLED display running at a resolution of 2240 1080 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The screen has an iPhone X-like notch on the top as well. It is powered by a Kirin 970 octa-core SoC that comes with AI-based neural processing unit (NPU), which will allow functions like object recognition, and automatic screen recognition when clicking photos. The chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
The highlight of the camera is definitely the camera. It has three cameras at the back, one of which is a 40-megapixel main RGB sensor, the other is an 8-megapixel 3X telephoto sensor, and the third is a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor.
Fuelling the smartphone is a 4,000mAh battery along with SuperCharge quick charging technology, the smartphone comes with IP67 water and dust resistance, and it misses out on the legacy 3.5mm jack as well. Connectivity options on the smartphone include Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, dual SIM card slots, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with a layer of EMUI 8.1 on top.
