Huawei unveiled the P9 back in April this year, and more than three months later the company is gearing up to launch the flagship smartphone in India. The smartphone’s highlight is the dual-lens rear camera setup, which has been certified by Leica, a premium-segment manufacturer of cameras and sport optics products. This setup includes a pair of 12-megapixel cameras with RGB and Monochrome sensors. Huawei says this combination delivers photos that are high on details, color, and sharpness, even in low light. Though the camera misses out on OIS, it does come with Hybrid auto-focus with laser auto-focus, Depth Focus and Contrast Focus. For selfie lovers, there is an 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.4 aperture and 1080p video recording. The smartphone also comes with features like a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging, fingerprint scanner and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1.

The Huawei P9 flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display with 2.5D curved screen, and 500 nits brightness. It is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 955 64-bit octa-core processor, and will be available in two variants — 32GB variant with 3GB of RAM, and 64GB variant with 4GB of RAM. Both variants come with a microSD slot for additional storage up to 256GB.

The flagship smartphone is available in certain countries for around $587, which is approximately Rs 39,500. It remains to be seen if Huawei also plans to launch the P9 Plus and the P9 Lite smartphones in India as well. The P9 Plus is available for around $718, which is approximately Rs 48,300, while the P9 Lite is available for around $329 (Rs 22,100 approximately).
