After launching the P9 and the P9 Plus, Huawei has quietly unveiled a less expensive variant called the P9 Lite. The new smartphone is in line with the leaked photos we came across before, and it is set to go on sale in select markets next month. In terms of the design, the P9 Lite looks similar to the more expensive P9 and also boasts a metal body. There is also a fingerprint scanner placed at the back, but it doesn’t get the controversial Leica-certified dual-camera setup. Huawei P9 Lite specifications, features: The smartphone flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, and is powered by a Huawei-made Kirin 650 octa-core chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. Also on offer is 16GB internal memory, along with a hybrid-SIM card setup. In this setup, either a user can put two SIM cards, or one SIM card and one memory card. Users will be able to expand the internal storage up to 128GB.
The P9 Lite also features a 13-megapixel snapper at the back, 8-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi b/g/n. On the software front it too will run on Android Marshmallow.
As mentioned earlier, the Huawei P9 Lite is priced at 299 Euros, and will go on sale sometime next month. Details are however scarce about the company’s plans of launching the smartphone in other countries.
In comparison, the flagship Huawei P9 smartphone features a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Kirin 955 octa-core processor, and it is available in two options 32GB variant with 3GB of RAM, and 64GB variant with 4GB of RAM.
The talking point of the smartphone is the Leica-developed dual 13-megapixel snappers at the back. Up front there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. It is priced at 449, which is approximately Rs 42,000.
