Huawei has apparently removed the ability to use third-party app launchers on Huawei and Honor phones after the EMUI 9 beta update. According to an XDA thread (via Mysmartprice), the latest EMUI 9 beta update based on Android 9 Pie has reportedly removed the ability to use third-party launchers for some users.
Huawei recently extended its Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9 beta program more devices, and some users on Reddit have reported that they have been unable to use third-party launchers after the update.
Furthermore, another Reddit user contributed to the thread by noting that Huawei is aware of the issue, and as per their Chinese official forums, the default launcher option will come back in the next version 220.127.116.11 of the EMUI 9 beta update. However, no official statement has come from Huawei on this issue as yet.

To remind you, after the initial EMUI 9 beta program for nine devices in early September, Huawei recently extended it to 11 new devices. The update issued a warning to users who may want to join the beta test stating that Beta program involves unreleased, unfinished software that may break important functionality in your device. It also noted that there are limited slots in the program. This is because of the unstable nature of software during this test phase.
