Huawei is geared up to launch a new smartphone called the Honor V9 on February 21. According to a leaked posted, the Honor V9 will be a China exclusive launch. While the launch has been confirmed, a new report says that Huawei will launch the Honor V9 internationally as well, and it would be under the name of Honor 8 Pro. The Honor 8 Pro is said to be launched on February 27 at Huawei s MWC press conference in Barcelona. If the rumors turn out to be true after all, then this smartphone would be the fourth variant in the Honor 8 series. Up until now, Huawei has launched the Honor 8, Honor 8 Smart and Honor 8 Lite smartphones. The Honor V9 smartphone was earlier spotted on TENAA which revealed its specifications. Based on the previous leaks, the Honor V9 is expected to feature a metal unibody design, and the front panel will see the absence of the Home button. The fingerprint sensor will instead be placed on the back. The teaser for the Honor V9 launch also showed the background of ocean water hinting on water resistant capabilities. Poised to be on the high-end range, the Honor V9 s main highlight would be its dual camera set up on the rear end. The Honor V9 will feature a combination of 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras at the back for high-quality, DSLR-like images.

As for the remaining specifications, the Honor V9 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD display offering 2560×1440 pixels resolution. At the core of the Honor V9, it will run the company s own Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz. In terms of RAM and storage, the smartphone will be available in two variants of 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage and 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage. In addition to the dual camera setup, up front the smartphone will house an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
The smartphone will be powered by a 3,900mAh battery. On the software front, the Honor V9 will run on Android 7.0 Nougat with Huawei s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 layered on top. According to the source, a Russian website, the Honor 8 Pro will go on sale in late March. The pricing on the smartphone is yet to be revealed. The Honor V9 would be successor to the Honor V8 which was launched exclusively in China last year. The Honor V8 smartphone was launched with a 5.7-inch display, which comes in a full HD display and a QHD display variant. Both the variants come with IPS panel and 2.5D glass. Under its hood, the smartphone runs Huawei s top-end Kirin 950 octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with storage options of 32GB and 64GB for the HD and QHD variants respectively. There is also support for memory expansion up to 128GB via microSD. Connectivity options for the Honor V8 include dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C and GPS. It is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery and also features a fingerprint sensor.
