Alongside the new Mate 20 series, Huawei also unveiled two new wearables as companion devices for its smartphones. The Chinese smartphone maker launched a new smartwatch called Huawei Watch GT that promises to offer the longest battery life yet on a smartwatch. As rumored before, the Huawei Watch GT achieves that battery life by running a custom watch operating system and not Google’s Wear OS, which was found on previous smartwatches from the company.
Huawei Watch GT: Specifications and Price
The Huawei Watch GT is powered by a Cortex-M4 CPU that includes both low power and high power cores for efficiency and performance. Huawei is claiming that Watch GT can last for up to 30 days if you disable GPS and use it primarily for notifications. However, if you use key features like exercise tracking and heart rate monitoring then the smartwatch is rated to last for two weeks, which is almost double of what other smartwatches can manage right now.
With GPS turned on along with heart rate sensing and always on display, the Huawei Watch can last for up to 22 hours, which is four hours more than the 18 hours rating for the Apple Watch Series 4. The wearable sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and it opts for a classic circular watch face design.
The watch features a stainless casing with ceramic bezels and it has dual pushers at the side. Huawei is offering the smartwatch in Sport and Classic version and both offer 5ATM water resistance. The smartwatch also supports an optical heart rate sensor with 6 LEDs and Huawei says it is capable to measuring heart rate every second.
In terms of other features, the Huawei Watch GT includes GPS and it can be used for daily activity and training using company’s Health Assistant app. There is also built-in altimeter, step and sleep tracking feature. The Huawei Watch GT Sport and Watch GT Classic are priced at €199 (around Rs 16900) and €249 (around Rs 21,100) respectively.
Huawei Band 3 Pro: Specifications and Price
Huawei is also introducing Band 3 Pro as its newest fitness tracker. The Band 3 Pro is priced at €99 (around Rs 8,400) and it offers a curved 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a heart rate sensor and GPS. Like the Huawei Watch GT, the new Band 3 Pro also supports 5ATM water proofing and fitness features to track your exercise and other activities.
