Huawei’s anticipated smartwatch, the Huawei Watch GT, is up in leaks again and this time it is said to ditch Google’s Wear OS for company’s own OS. According to WinFuture, Huawei Watch GT lineup is set to arrive in two styles “Classic” or “Fashion” while there will be another variant for sports enthusiast dubbed Huawei Watch GT Sport.
While most of details leaked were expected change, what has come as surprise in the report is that Huawei would not include Google’s Wear OS platform in the yet-to-launch Huawei Watch GT. Apparently, Huawei has its own proprietary OS ready for wearables that requires less power to run than Wear OS. It is claimed that Huawei’s OS will benefit for the longer battery life. The Watch GT is said to come with a standard 420mAh battery, which combined with Hauwei’s own wearable OS will allow over 14 days standby time with GPS enabled.
Another interesting thing is Huawei is reportedly ditching Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset for an ARM Cortex-M4 based SoC.
It is reported that the Huawei Watch GT’s design would be similar to Huawei Watch 2, but it will be slightly more refined. Like the Watch 2, the Watch GT as per renders can be seen sporting two side-mounted buttons and a round display.
