Huawei had launched the second generation of its smartwatch collection at this year s MWC 2017 expo. The Huawei Watch 2 and Huawei Watch Classic 2 were launched with the latest Android wear 2.0. Google had launched the Android Wear 2.0 earlier in February itself with the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style. Among the smartwatches listed to receive the update, Huawei Watch was one, but there was a delay. According to some users on Reddit, Huawei Watch has started the Android Wear 2.0 update. Huawei Watch, the first smartwatch by Huawei was expected to receive the Android Wear 2.0 update soon enough since it had been part of the developer program since the start. Huawei Watch users on Reddit have posted about receiving the Android Wear 2.0 via an OTA update on their smartwatch. However, users who were on the developer preview appear to have been successful in installing the update. Huawei Watch users, who were not on the developer preview, tried updating their devices but the download would stop at 30 percent and a message would be flashed saying that the system is up to date. However the Huawei Watch remains on Android Wear 1.5 only for these users.
The full update should release to all Huawei Watch users in the coming days, although the company has not release anything official as yet. Android Wear 2.0 has been the biggest update by Google for its wearables platform. Google has introduced many new and important features on Android Wear 2.0. Users can now personalize the always-on watch face by adding information like appointment details, stock performance, tracks on fitness regime and more. Android Wear 2.0 has made responding to notifications easier by allowing users to reply straight from their smartwatch. One can do so by dictating, typing or handwriting the answer or even drawing an emoji. Along with this, Smart Reply is also integrated on Android Wear 2.0. The highlight of Android Wear 2.0 is Google Assistant. Users can now ask questions like weather updates, set reminders, make hotel reservations by launching Google Assistant on their smartwatch. Speaking about the Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic, the smartwatches come with new features succeeding the Huawei Watch. These new features include 4G connectivity, GPS, heart rate sensor, NFC, and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic both feature a 1.2-inch 390X390p display and are powered by a 1.1GHz Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset. The smartwatches come with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The smartwatches are powered by a 420mAh battery which the company claims can last up to two days with normal usage, or up to 10 hours with an active GPS signal.
