Huawei has launched two new smartphones under its Y-series, the Y3 (2017) and Y7. The two smartphone are now listed on Huawei s official website. There is no official word on the pricing and availability of the smartphones yet. Both the Huawei Y3 (2017) series smartphones will be available in grey, prestige gold and silver while the Huawei Y7 will be available for gold, pink, blue, white and grey. While the Huawei Y3 (2017) was launched yesterday, the Y7 was quietly unveiled in China today. Talking about the design of the Huawei Y7 smartphone, it comes with a metal body with its front covered by a 2.5D glass. At the back, there is the camera module with LED flash. While the Huawei Y7 comes with a fingerprint scanner placed at the rear end of the phone, unfortunately, the Y3 (2017) comes sans fingerprint scanner. To start with the Huawei Y3 (2017) is the successor to last year’s Huawei Y3 II. Going by the listing, the Huawei Y3 (2017) features a 5-inch FWVGA display with a display resolution of 854×480 pixel. It is powered by a quad-core MT6737T CPU chipset clocked at 1.1GHz along with Mali T720 GPU. The device comes paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.On the camera front, the Huawei Y3 (2017) sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies. The smartphone is armed with a 2,200mAh battery with an Ultra Power Saving Mode. On the connectivity front, the smartphone offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/AGPS/Glonass, a microUSB port, Proximity sensor, Digital Compass and Ambient light sensor. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor clocked at 1.4GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. On the camera front, the Huawei Y7 sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). Up front, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. Keeping the smartphone ticking is the 4,000mAh battery which the company claims is good enough to offer 20 hours of video playback or up to 15 hours of internet surfing. Other than that, the smartphone offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/AGPS/Glonass, a microUSB port, Proximity sensor, Digital Compass, Gravity and Ambient light sensor. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top.
In other news, reports suggest that Huawei might be planning to launch two new smartphones, the Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus on May 26. The smartphones have been subjected to many leaks in the recent past revealing important details about the smartphones. To give you a gist of what you can expect, the Huawei Nova 2 is likely to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display, whereas the Nova 2 Plus variant could sport a larger display. Both the variants could be powered by Huawei s HiSilicon Kirin 660 SoC under the hood.
On the camera front, the smartphones might come with a dual-rear camera setup which will carry a combination of dual 12-megapixel cameras on the rear, and a 20-megapixel selfie snapper on the front. The device could house a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support. On the software front, the smartphone will run Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box.
