Some of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world like Samsung and Apple, tend to make their own hardware part in order to depend less on other companies. Huawei is part of this circle and also follows the same principal to manufacture its own chips for smartphones. This helps control the dominance of chip manufacturers like Qualcomm and keeps the market in a competitive state, not to mention bring down the cost of production of a device.
Huawei s latest release for its top shelf smartphones, the Kirin 970 is a competitor of the best Qualcomm chips out there, but does fall short a bit when compared to the Snapdragon 845. And according to sources, Huawei s yet to be announced Kirin 980 will be able to solve that problem with the use of advanced 7nm manufacturing process from TSMC. The Kirin 980 is probably going to be used in the rumored Mate 20 that Huawei may launch soon. But that is not the chip that we are going to talk about today.
From what I the sources in the company say according to the Chinese website Anzhuo, the Kirin 1020 will be a game changer. The Chinese manufacturer is all set to catapult ahead in the smartphone race with the Kirin 1020 which is apparently going to be the most powerful processor from the company that will be offering twice the performance of that of a Kirin 970. We can assume that this might make the Kirin 1020 the most powerful processor in the market, ahead of its competition.
There is no further information available on the same right now, and if rumors are to be believed, the Kirin 1020 will be put into production once the first 5G networks are made live. Huawei will be launching devices with Kirin 1020 in China soon after that.
