Elon Musk’s Hyperloop concept has the potential to change surface transport massively, by reducing travel times on major routes while simultaneously cutting down on energy consumption and emissions. The idea hasn’t actually seen a real-world implementation beyond testing facilities, and it will likely be a while before we see a functioning Hyperloop system anytime soon. However, the latest reports suggest that Hyperloop could be coming to Cupertino, California – the place where the most valuable company in the world Apple is based. There have been talks and negotiations with various governments around the world to bring Hyperloop, including talks in India and the UAE. However, if negotiations go through, the city of Cupertino in California could see a Hyperloop system built by Hyperloop Transportation Technologies set up to connect Cupertino to other parts of California. The line would work to help bring down commute times in the region, which is known to have serious traffic problems. Also Read - AirPods 2 price in India drops following launch of AirPods 3
“We are talking to Hyperloop to have a line,” said city councilor Barry Chang. “If this comes to a realization, it only would take five minutes from DeAnza College to downtown San Jose instead of a couple hours.”
The region has been looking for creative transportation solutions for some time now to combat the traffic issue. Being a major hub for technology companies including Apple, the San Jose region of California is one of the wealthiest in California, where residents tend to rely exclusively on personal vehicles to get around. A non road-based solution would certainly help the region immensely. However, the proposal is still in talks, and any solution would take a while to materialize, if at all.
