Presently, the company has around 130,000 people employed in India and that constitutes about one-third of its total workforce. IBM India, in the truest sense, is a microcosm of the IBM company, said Vanitha Narayanan, chairman of the company s Indian operations as quoted on New York Times. An increasing number of Indian employees can also be attributed to affordable or less expensive employment here in the country. According to a Glassdoor research, salaries paid to a native Indian employee are one-half to one-fifth of the salaries paid to those based out of America. As is the case, IBM is said to have been able to survive losses vitally due to its India division. As per reports, IBM has reported a decline in business for last 21 quarters, courtesy to failure in reshaping its business strategies as per new demands of the industry.
