ICC 2017 Women's Cricket World Cup: Google doodle celebrates the tournament with interactive game

Welcome to the game of 'crickets'.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup opens today and Google has dedicated a special interactive doodle on its homepage. The love for cricket goes beyond boundaries and with today’s doodle, extends to the ‘cricket’ and insect community as well in a very adorable fashion.

You can play the animated Google doodle by simply long-pressing on the bat icon. But don’t get fooled by the snail bowlers as they are as much capable of throwing a googly as their human counterparts.

Interestingly, Google has made the pocket-sized game so light in size that it supports even slower mobile networks. As Google notes in its blog, “We kept the file size fly-sized, and the result is our smallest interactive Doodle ever — even snail networks can load it in seconds.”  RELATED: Oskar Wilhelm Fischinger’s 117th birthday celebrated with a special Google Doodle

Today’s doodle is visible on Google homepage in India, Pakistan, Australia, UK, New Zealand, and Guyana. Google has also posted some samples of test animation and development designs before the final doodle.

You can head straight to the Google homepage and don’t forget to share your scores.
