Vodafone Idea Limited is hard at work to unify the tariff plans at both Idea Cellular and Vodafone. As part of that strategy, Idea Cellular has introduced three new prepaid plans that offer up to 135GB of data and they are being introduced to match the offering from Vodafone.
Vodafone had launched three new plans priced at Rs 209, Rs 479 and Rs 529 respectively last month. These plans from the company offered 1.5GB daily data and now, Idea is following suit with the same plans that offer similar benefits and validity. These new plans have been introduced across the country and will be available in all the 22 telecom circles that Idea operates in. Of all the new plans, the Rs 529 prepaid plan from Idea Cellular offers the longest validity of 90 days and has a total data benefit of 135GB.
Idea Cellular is revising its tariff plans after Bharti Airtel launched a new tariff plan offering 1.5GB daily data with the first plan priced at Rs 398. This tariff war, which began with the commercial launch of Reliance Jio’s 4G only service in 2016, does not seem to be losing momentum.

Idea Cellular’s 1.5GB daily benefit plans and validity
Idea Cellular is introducing three new plans, as mentioned above, that offer 1.5GB daily data benefit. These plans are priced at Rs 209, Rs 479 and Rs 529 respectively and differ in terms of validity. The Rs 209 plan offers 1.5GB data per day and has a validity of 28 days. It offers a total of 42GB data and unlimited voice calls and 100 local or national SMS per day.
The Rs 479 plan offers similar benefits but for a period of 84 days. With recharge of 479, Idea users will now be able to enjoy total data benefits of 126GB. The Rs 529 plan from the operator offers the longest validity of 90 days and also maximum data benefit of 135GB. One important thing to know is that none of these plans come with truly unlimited voice calling benefit.
Idea Cellular’s limitation on voice calls and data
Idea Cellular has not offered truly unlimited voice calling option with any of its prepaid plans and with the new plans, the trend continues for the telecom operators. Idea Cellular is restricting calling benefits to 250 outgoing minutes and after that, they will be charged at one paise per second. In addition, the outgoing call minutes is restricted to a maximum of 1000 minutes in any period of seven consecutive days. After reaching FUP limit of 1.5GB data per day, Idea users will be charged at 4 paise per 10GB.
Idea Cellular reaches parity with Vodafone
Idea Cellular is not getting rid of its 1.4GB daily data plans, which start at Rs 199 and the new plans only make an expansive list for its prepaid users. However, with the new plans, Idea is matching Vodafone and in a way, making it easier for customers switching within the two networks.
