Idea prepaid consumers now have a new plan from Vodafone-Idea. The telecom operator has introduced a new prepaid plan of Rs 189 with similar benefits as Vodafone’s Rs 189 plan. It is company’s cheapest prepaid plan right now with 56 days validity, however it will be made available in select circles only.
The Idea Rs 189 prepaid plan includes 2GB of 2G/3G/4G data with unlimited voice calling along with 100 SMS per day for 56 days, same as Vodafone’s plan, reports TelecomTalk. Vodafone-Idea will be capping the voice calls to 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week. In addition, the calls will be limited to 100 unique numbers during the validity period of 56 days.
The telecom operator recently removed talk time recharges from its portfolio. It only offers unlimited plans now with just three talk time plans of Rs 10, Rs 1,000, and Rs 5,000.
Idea Cellular has a stronger presence in South India, while North India is dominated by Airtel. Similarly, Vodafone has a strong presence in metro cities across the country, including Mumbai and Delhi. With Jio’s rapid growth, Idea has now dropped to number four position in India in terms of subscriber base.
Idea Cellular recently introduced a similar Rs 159 plan with a validity of 28 days, and offered unlimited voice calling, 100 SMS per day and 28GB of data in total, usable at an FUP of 1GB per day. The plan is the same in price and offers same benefits as the Vodafone Rs 159 plan, which is likely an effort to offer price parity and similar plans from both brands.
