Acer has announced, what it calls, the “world s lightest 15-inch notebook” – Acer Swift 5 – ahead of IFA 2018. The Swift 5 (SF515-51T) notebook with a 15-inch display weighs less than one kilogram (990 grams). The top and bottom covers of the Swift 5 are constructed from magnesium-lithium alloy for a thinner yet stronger design. Acer says that it has ensured the durability of the notebook PC for bending or twisting. The slim chassis measures at 15.9 mm (0.63 inches). The Acer Swift 5 with 15-inch display (SF515-51T) will be available in November starting with China and EMEA region. The pricing for China will start at RMB 7,499 (approximately Rs 77,500), whereas it’ll start at EUR 1,099 (roughly Rs 90,500) in EMEA countries. The Swift 5 will also be made available in North America in January, 2019, starting at $1,099 (approximately Rs 77,700). The Acer Swift 5 features a 15.6-inch full HD 1920×1080 IPS touchscreen with ultra-narrow bezels, giving it a screen-to-body ratio of 87.6 percent. The wide viewing display comes with Acer’s BluelightShield technology that reduces blue-light emissions for nighttime viewing, while Acer’s Color Intelligence technology dynamically adjusts gamma and saturation in real-time for optimum screen-color and brightness.
The Swift 5 notebook packs an LED backlit keyboard, and a fingerprint reader that supports Windows Hello for faster and secure login. It comes powered by Intel’s latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8565U and Core i5-8265U processors. The RAM options include up to 16 GB of DDR4 SDRAM, whereas storage capacity will be offered up to a 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD.

Acer has also included TrueHarmony technology which optimizes Dolby Audio to deliver high-quality sound via the inbuilt dual stereo speakers. Other features include Wi-Fi connection with 2×2 802.11ac wireless Gigabit performance, a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen-2 port for up to 10 Gbps data transfers and two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, and one regular HDMI port.
