Alongside the ThinkPad X1 Extreme and Yoga C930, Lenovo is introducing second generation Yoga Book at IFA 2018 in Berlin. The Yoga Book C930 is definitely the coolest product from the company at the event, where it is announcing not less than eight consumer-oriented laptops.

The Yoga Book C930 was showcased at Computex 2018 earlier this year by Intel and the product is getting official at IFA 2018. The Yoga Book C930 like it’s predecessor features dual display and this year, Lenovo is offering two different displays on both sides. Unlike LCD display on both side last year, Lenovo is offering LCD display as the primary screen and an e-ink display as the secondary screen this year.

The Yoga Book C930 features a 10.1-inch LCD display at the front and another 10-inch e-ink display which acts as the keyboard and supports features like note-taking. Both Intel and Microsoft, which were the biggest losers in the post-PC era, are trying to turn computers into modern mobile workstations and these dual display designs are seen as the potential game changers.

The first generation Yoga Book offered an option for either Windows or Android operating system. The second generation Yoga Book C930 comes only with Windows. Lenovo says the Yoga Book was conceived as a productivity tablet companion and consumers prefer Windows over Android in this segment. The tablet convertible features a watchband hinge design and runs Windows 10 Home out of the box.

Powering the Yoga Book C930 is the new 8th generation Intel Core i5 CPU coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The e-ink display offers multiple options including use as a keyboard or sketchpad. One of the interesting addition this year is that the keyboard offers haptic feedback to compensate for the lack of travel possible with actual mechanical switches and plays back sound from left or right side depending on the section that you type on.

The Yoga Book C930 also comes with support for Lenovo s Active Stylus and it kind of marries a traditional display with a Wacom synthesizer. Lenovo says few apps will support its e-ink display at the time of launch but there is no mention of Amazon Kindle supporting that e-ink display. The compact shape and form factor does appeal but lack of physical keyboard and nascent ecosystem of apps supporting the e-ink display could limit its appeal. The Yoga Book C930 will go on sale in EMEA starting September at 999 (around Rs 82,000). There is no word on its India launch or availability just yet.
