Lenovo Yoga C930 launch lead

At IFA 2018, Lenovo is introducing the new Yoga C930 as the successor to last year’s Yoga 920 convertible. With the Yoga C930, Lenovo says it has re-engineered the convertible design to meet the demands of modern day consumers.

Lenovo pioneered the 360-degree convertible design around six years ago and since then, the innovation has been centered around hinge design. While Microsoft’s Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge and Lenovo’s Watchband hinge are the most unique in the segment, the Chinese company is dropping the watchband hinge design with the launch of Yoga C930 this year. The watchband hinge is replaced by a rotating metallic hinge that houses a speaker.

Lenovo is calling this design as the rotational speaker. The speaker houses two dynamic drivers and uses Dolby Atmos for a more immersive audio experience. This design allows the laptop to project sound equally whether the Yoga C930 is in laptop mode, tablet mode or tent mode. The Yoga C930 drops the unique and eye-catching hinge design for a more practical one that consumers will appreciate over time.

Lenovo Yoga C930 Specifications and Features

The Yoga C930 features a 13.9-inch display with a 4K UHD panel supporting a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The display now supports Dolby Vision to enable deeper contrast and greater dynamic range with visual content. The support for Dolby Vision and 4K HDR comes alive while viewing supported content on OTT platforms like Netflix.

Powering the Yoga C930 is 8th generation Intel Core processors with option for up to six-core Core i7 CPU. The Yoga C930 can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. It does not have a discrete graphics processor but includes two Thunderbolt 3-based USB Type-C port to connect external GPU.

The Yoga C930 runs Windows 10 and includes support for Lenovo stylus with 4096 pressure points. Lenovo has also added an enclosure to stow away the stylus when it is not in use. This implementation is very much similar to what Samsung has done with its S Pen for several years now. The Yoga C930 is priced at €1,499 (around Rs 1,24,100) and will be available starting September.
