With LG recently announcing its first commercial 8K 88-inch OLED TV, Samsung today took the wraps of its new Q900R QLED 8K TV at IFA 2018. While it is 8K too, one of its key highlights of TV is that it features 8K AI Upscaling, allowing users to experience 8K resolution with standard content. Samsung had first showcased the technology at CES 2018 in January. This TV is basically the reworked version of the Q9S 8K TV, which now comes with a range of sizes including, 65-inch, 75-inch, 82-inch and 85-inch. The QLED display on Q900R, according to Samsung, features Real 8K Resolution , which is capable of 4,000 nit peak brightness. This feature allows the TV to produce four times more pixels than a 4K UHD TV, which accounts for more than 33 million pixels. Besides that, the TV is also equipped with support for HDR (High Dynamic Range) 10+ technology to offer natural looking colors and good contrast levels. Samsung calls the technology Q HDR. The AI upscaling technology, can improve both picture and sound quality of the content to match 8K standards. It works with any content regardless of the source, be it on a streaming service, set-top box, HDMI, USB or even mobile mirroring. The technology is backed by Samsung s Quantum Processor.
Besides offering high-end audio and video quality, the Q900R features a range of new features that are meant to make life easy for the user. One of them is the TV s ability to recognizes the number of connected entertainment devices to deliver an optimized viewing experience. There is also an enhanced Ambient Mode included which allows the TV to seamlessly blend onto the wall, while also displaying weather, news and more on the screen.

With the Q900R, Samsung truly believes to be one of the leading brands with 8K resolution, offering customers an option to experience its immersive experience, even with the format still being in its infancy stage. Pricing and availability of the TV haven t been revealed yet, but Samsung might launch its new flagship display soon.
