ZTE might be ready to launch a new smartphone after a long interspace. The company is reportedly looking to launch its ZTE Axon 9 smartphone at the upcoming IFA 2018. The company has put up a teaser image on Twitter for the upcoming event to be held in Berlin Germany from August 31 to September 5.
The IFA 2018 invitation teaser image notes “Leading 5G innovations” with a subtle hint of smartphone’s front with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, ZTE has reportedly sent out invites for the media for an August 30 event that will take place at 4:00PM Berlin Time. The invites mentions a big “9” pointing towards ZTE Axon 9 and 9 Pro. However, the authenticity of these leaked invites cannot be confirmed at this point.
The rumors around ZTE Axon 9 and Axon 9 Pro came to existence in April. Even the ZTE CEO had confirmed the presence of Axon 9 as successor to Axon 7 which was launched in 2016. So far the leaks have pointed out towards an 18:9 aspect ratio display and dual rear cameras for the alleged ZTE Axon 9.

To remind you, the United States Government has formally lifted a crippling ban on ZTE. The Commerce Department in April banned US companies from supplying ZTE with crucial components. ZTE was accused of violating a US trade law by selling its devices to Iran and North Korea. Under the ban, ZTE was prohibited from buying components from American suppliers.
Now, the biggest challenge for ZTE will be to rebuild the company’s reputation. Reportedly, the company has also resumed its business and operations in India. The company is hopeful of recovering the losses from the ban US government.
