Formerly known as Infotel Broadband, Reliance Jio is pegged to launch its 4G services in India by 2015. Alongiside that rollout, the company is expected to launch an app and services portal Jio World wherein it will offer a WhatsApp and Hike rival messaging client, music and live TV streaming services and more. Telecom Talk has obtained an earlier build of the instant messenger and VoIP app Jio Social. The app, according to the report, offers free unlimited messaging to other Jio social users, as well as 100 SMS per month to any user in the country. Jio Social also offers Skype-like voice and video calling capabilities while sporting handy additions like support for emoticons, stickers, and ability to record voice notes. Much like WhatsApp, Jio Social will require users to register to the service by providing their mobile number. The verification and profile customizations and first setup look familiar too. The service could also have integration with other social networks. The app could also work with other carriers. From what we have heard so far, the company has built the app completely in India, and has sent it to a closed group for testing. The company is slated to launch both the 4G service and the Jio Social together sometime next year. Also Read - Flipkart Big Saving Days sale from Aug 6 to Aug 10: Details here
