Almost 87 percent of all Internet connections in India are from a wireless connection, the latest report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India indicates. There are 13 ISPs that provide wireless Internet services and Bharti Airtel leads the pack with approximately 39.5 million data subscriptions or 27.58 percent market share. Vodafone follows closely with 34.4 million Internet subscriptions or 24 percent market share followed by Idea at 25.5 million subscriptions or 17.8 percent market share. The numbers are only set to increase thanks to increased competition between carriers and initiatives like that from RCom that now offers 3G data services cheaper than 2G data.
