Citing sources, 9to5Mac s Mark Gurman reports that Apple will be focusing on growth in India by releasing cheaper iPhones to appease the emerging markets. Cook mentioned that iPhone is the greatest business of the future, and the company has to grow the iPhone for decades. Though 4G LTE networks are not present in all emerging markets, but with carriers ready to rollout 4G services in India, it gives Apple an opportunity to get its latest devices to the country.
Cook said that India will be one of Apple s important growth areas for the next decade. He further added saying that the company is doing the early preparation to debut its retail stores across the country. Apple has already filed an application to setup offline and online stores in India.
Speaking about Apple Music on Android, Cook said it was the company s way of testing the waters for growing its services across rival platforms. He also mentioned that it opens door for porting more Apple apps to Android in the future. Other services such as iCloud photo library, calendar, mail, notes, reminders could be a natural place to start with. Also, Apple s iMessage could be another logical app to port as it would give Android users a tighter integration between their iPads, Mac computers and their smartphones.
In response to slowing iPad sales, Cook mentioned that he expects iPad revenue to grow by the end of 2016. From the reports so far, Apple is expected to unveil the iPad Air 3 next month, which could be one of the reasons for Cook to be bullish on iPad line. Along with the iPad Air 3, Apple is also likely to debut its 4-inch iPhone 5se and new Apple Watch band options at the March 15 launch event.
