IndiGo Airlines confirms its Twitter handle was hacked

This Twitter hack follows another breach that took place last week on January 26.


If you try to look up IndiGo on Twitter right now, you will actually fail to find their official account. And that s because the Indian airline s Twitter handle has been hit with a breach. Earlier today, IndiGo’s Twitter handle was changed to “activevibezzz1”, who now seems to be in possession of the account. The official IndiGo account, which had over 100,000 followers, briefly carried the handle @activevibezzz1. Which means, that all the users who were following IndiGo, were unknowingly following the hacker activevibezzz1 . Interestingly, the original Twitter handle, which read @IndiGo6E, has now been claimed by another user. Which means, when the airlines tries regain control over their Twitter handle, their own handle may not be available anymore. Confirming the hack, IndiGo even took to Facebook announcing that it s Twitter account had been compromised. It requested its customers to direct their concerns to their Facebook account until the Twitter account is restored. The hacker, also posted a test tweet earlier this morning.

A few days back too some incoherent tweets were sent out from the official Twitter handle of IndiGo. At that time, Indigo’s spokesman Ajay Jasra told TOI, “Our official Twitter handle was compromised at 8:32pm (January 26). Our team is investigating the matter. Lately, there have been many spate of Twitter account hacks. Towards the end of last year, Rahul Gandhi and Vijay Mallya s accounts were compromised as well. The group has revealed its origin from . According to the Sigaint website, it is a darknet email service that allows you to send and receive email without revealing your location or identity. Sigaint claims to provide email IDs which are secure on TOR browser. We provide this service to help journalists and activists combat the dragnet surveillance that exists on the internet today. Even if you aren t in conflict with the state or anyone in particular, you as a human being deserve privacy, the website reads.
