Infinix, the newest entrant in India’s crowded smartphone segment, has launched its selfie-centric Hot S3 smartphone in India. The new device is one of the most affordable smartphones to run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It has been launched in two variants – 32GB variant with 3GB RAM priced at Rs 8,999, and 64GB variant with 4GB RAM priced at Rs 10,999. The smartphone will be available exclusively from Flipkart from February 12. Buyers will be able to choose from two color options – Sandstone Black and Brush Gold.
Infinix and its partner Flipkart have been teasing the device on the retailer’s platform for some time now. The device brings modern design with thinner bezels surrounding the display, which jumps from 16:9 to a taller 18:9 aspect ratio. The Infinix Hot S3 is the successor to the S2, which offered a dual-camera setup at the front and came at an affordable price.
Infinix Hot S3 specifications and features
The Infinix Hot S3 features a 5.65-inch display with a HD+ resolution of 1440×720 pixels, and support for taller 18:9 aspect ratio. Powering the device is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset clocked at 1.4GHz and Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, which can be expanded further via a dedicated SD card slot.
The camera department is handled by a 13-megapixel rear shooter with autofocus and LED flash. There is a 20-megapixel front camera for selfies with support for different modes like timelapse and wide-angle selfie. The smartphone also supports beautification mode with the ability to control the exposure and face tone.
One of the highlight of Infinix Hot S3 is that it runs Android 8.0 Oreo with company’s custom UI called XOS Hummingbird on top of it. The smartphone runs Oreo even when flagship devices costing five times the price of Infinix Hot S3 are yet to get the update. The smartphone comes with connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE with VoLTE support.
The smartphone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery, which is quite massive for a smartphone of this size. It uses a micro-USB port for charging and lacks support for fast charging. Infinix has made significant progress since its entry into India a few months ago and with the Hot S3, it has a better shot to take on devices from brands such as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.
