Infinix Note 5 launched in India
Infinix today launched an Android One certified smartphone in India dubbed as the Note 5. The smartphone comes in two configurations of RAM and storage of 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64, which are priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999 respectively. Like most other Infinix smartphones, the Note 5 will also be available through Flipkart starting August 31. The device also sports a MediaTek Helio P23 octa-core chipset and a massive 4,500mAh battery with fast charging. Being Android One, it runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-box, which is said to be upgraded to Android 9 Pie soon.
Flipkart Superr Sale: Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Zenfone 5Z discounts
Flipkart will be hosting a one-day sale on August 25, called the ‘Superr Sale’, where the e-commerce site will be offering discounts on top-selling smartphones and gadgets. The sale also includes impressive cashback offers on Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Asus Zenfone 5Z.
On the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, the company is offering a Rs 500 discount with 10 percent cashback on using HDFC Bank cards. Users can also get a bonus of Rs 10,000 on exchange offers. For the Asus Zenfone 5Z, there is a straight Rs 3,000 discount on exchange and Rs 2,000 discount on select bank credit or debit cards. Besides Asus there are offers available on smartphones from Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo and more.
Samsung reworks India strategy to focus on ‘mass segment’
While Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, the company has been finding it difficult to make a huge impact in the Indian market, thanks to the competition from Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Vivo and Oppo. But now to regain its edge, Samsung is completely overhauling its strategy to put significant focus on the mass-market segment in India.
According to the CEO DJ Koh, the new strategy will involve Samsung launching new products that stand out from the competition because of their features and innovations. This should help Samsung get back its lost customers and also hold on to its current ones. The company plans to put this into action as soon as October or November this year.
Facebook is warning 4 million users that another app may have mishandled their data
Facebook wrote on its recent blog that another app called myPersonality has misused user data causing the social media giant to ban the app from its platform. Facebook stated that the app failed to agree with its request for an audit which made it clear that they have shared information with researchers as well as other companies. The app has been accused of misusing data of about 4 million people. Facebook said it will be notifying users with more information soon.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook launched in China
Xiaomi today launched a new mid-level laptop called Mi Notebook in China. The laptop comes in three configurations that are priced at RMB 3,999 (approximately Rs 40,800), RMB 4,499 (approximately Rs 45,900), and RMB 4,999 (approximately Rs 51,000) respectively.
For that price that laptops come with 8th Generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM. Users also get 128GB SSD storage over the conventional 1TB hard drives. The Mi Notebook also boasts a 15.6-inch screen and NVIDIA GeForce MX110 GPU. It also features a simple design available in Deep Gray and White colors.
LG V40 ThinQ press renders leaked online
Press renders of the LG V40 ThinQ surfaced online not only confirming the smartphone’s existence but also giving us an idea of what it could look like. The image showcases the device to come with a triple camera setup at the back, and quite possibly a notch at the front. However, the later can’t been see clearly in the image. The handset also looks a lot like Samsung’s current flagship smartphones, featuring glass mirror back and a curved screen with thin bezels and chin. Specifications still haven’t been revealed.
Google Pixel 3 XL retail box leaked
A new Google Pixel 3 XL leak has now surfaced on the web and it leaves nothing to imagination. The leak gives us a good idea about the smartphone’s design and its retail box. One of big things it confirms is that the smartphone will in fact be coming with a notch, and a big one at that. The smartphone will also feature thin bezels around the screen. At the back, it seems to have single camera and looks pretty much the same as its predecessor. The smartphone also comes with earphones, charger, Type-C cable and a range of adaptors for it.

HTC teases the U12 life, coming in August 30
HTC just tweeted about unveiling something new on August 30 which leads us to believe that it could be launching the HTC U12 Life smartphone. Rumors have stated it to be a mid-range smartphone which most likely will be touting a 6-inch screen and Snapdragon 636 SoC. It is also said to adopt a Google Pixel-like two part design, which could feature a combination of glass and metal.
