Starting today, Instagram will let you add music to your Stories. The company announced through a blogpost, that the new feature will allow users to add the right soundtrack to their Stories and express themselves better to their audience. Before this, users were only able to add music to their Stories by playing a song out on their phone.
It’s pretty simple to select a soundtrack for your Story. A music icon is now placed right next to the option to add a sticker to a photo or a video. Tapping on it will open a library which consists of thousands of songs. You can search for a specific song, browse by mood, genre or simply go through the popular list of soundtracks presented by Instagram.
After selecting a song, you can even fast forward or rewind through it, to find the part that best suits your Story. You can preview songs before adding them to the Story as well. Instagram will also let you choose and crop the song before you shoot the video. However, that feature is only available for iOS users at the moment. Friends and family who view your story will get to hear the song along with the image and the video. There will also be a sticker that shows the song title and the name of the artist.
