Instagram is taking its strong position in the social media space very seriously, and is constantly adding new features to keep the platform relevant for its existing users as well as gain new users. The latest addition to the Facebook-owned company’s list of features for its app is the ‘questions’ sticker, which is rolling out for Android and iOS now. Instagram announced the new feature through a blog post on its press site.
The new feature is a strong step towards increasing engagement in Instagram stories, and lets users add a question to their stories, to which their followers can respond directly through the sticker itself. A text box appears below the user-submitted question, where other users that are viewing the Instagram story can initiate a conversation with the person posting the story.
The responses show in the story viewers list, which already shows the original poster which users have viewed their posted stories. Users can then tap the response to add their own answer, which can be posted as a new story. Fortunately though, Instagram will keep the identity of the users private when the post is shared in a new story, although the original user can still see the identity of the person that asked the question.

The new sticker is part of a list of interactive emojis and stickers introduced by Instagram in recent months. The platform also allows poll stikers and emoji sliders, as part of its efforts to make Instagram stories more engaging and increasing the quality of interactions between users on the platform. The Facebook-owned social media service was acquired by the social media giant in 2012 for $1 billion, a fraction of what it is believed to be worth right now.
