Instagram direct messenger users can now share links through the service. The links will directly be supported from within the app. This means users need not separately add the link in bio — which was the only way to previously share any link on Instagram. Apart from the direct links, the receiver can also see inline previews for the website the link is for. Apart from bringing the links to messaging, Instagram also introduced portrait and landscape modes for messages. This means, the images need no longer be cropped into a perfect square but can be shared as they are. While the feature is only for messages and not for the actual app, it does bring some relief to Insta addicts as they can have conversations and share images as is with other instagrammers without the need for cropping.
Presently, the update is being rolled out to only iOS users, with Android users expected to get the new update soon. Instagram introduced Instagram Direct back in April and Direct brings about a massive change in the way users interact with each other and send messages on Instagram. The service is a more conventional messenger or chat service which brings a lot of features which were previously missing on the platform. Apart from standard photos, users can also use Direct Message to send disappearing photos and videos, boomerangs, and more. ALSO READ: Women get five times more likes on Instagram than men: Survey
