Instagram yesterday announced a major update for its mobile apps. The photo sharing service has now ditched its old retro-themed logo for a modern colorful logo. Also, it has redesigned the UI to make the layout and background black and white. The new update is available for both iOS and Android users, who have already taken to the social media to express their opinion on Instagram’s new look. Instagram’s new design looks to be focused on making the application clutter free and deliver an improved user experience. The top and bottom of the app are now white, and size of the icons for options like home, search, upload at the base have gotten smaller than they used to be. Instagram has applied the same layout design to its other apps — Layout, Hyperlapse and Boomerang. Also Read - Facebook, Instagram finally brings the option to hide like count: Here's how to use it
The web version of Instagram looks slightly different from its mobile counterparts. The interface on the web version has some minor changes like a white top bar and black icons that replace the old blue color. The company says that the design has been reworked so as to make the layout simpler.
On the company’s official blog, Instagram explained the new logo saying “Inspired by the previous app icon, the new one represents a simpler camera and the rainbow lives on in gradient form. Instagram community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more – a global community of interests sharing more than 80m photos and videos every day. Our updated look reflects how vibrant and diverse your storytelling has become.”
While Instagram has taken a huge step by changing its logo, users have already started to give their verdict on the new design. Users took to Facebook and Twitter to tell whether they liked the new design or not.
