Last month, Xiaomi conjured up a storm in the mobile industry by launching Poco F1, the first smartphone under its newly-created Poco sub-brand. Now, the moniker may be different, but Poco F1 is still a part of the Xiaomi family. As such, it shares quite a few elements with other Xiaomi smartphones, such as software and UI.
Even though Poco F1 essentially runs MIUI, it does come with a unique Poco launcher baked on top. If you want to take the launcher for a spin, you can now do so by side-loading it on any smartphone. However, be advised that the current version (220.127.116.11) is still in beta, so there may be some bugs and issues.
Getting Poco launcher on any smartphone is easy. Before anything else, you must allow installation of apps from unknown sources. This can be easily done via settings. Once that’s done, search for the APK (version 18.104.22.168) online, copy it to your smartphone, and hit Install. It’s as simple as that!
Xiaomi Poco F1’s claim to fame is its bleeding-edge spec sheet, which completely belies its price tag. Starting at just Rs 20,999, this smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6/8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of internal storage. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, with a special version of MIUI baked on top.

For imaging, Xiaomi Poco F1 features a dual-camera setup at the back. It’s comprised of a 12-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. Up front, a 20-megapixel unit takes care of selfies and video calls. The smartphone has all the modern connectivity options one could ask for, with a 4,000mAh battery (having Quick Charge 3.0 support) rounding off the spec sheet.
