Asus, in collaboration with Intel and RCom, today launched the eee PC 101H in India at a subsidized price of Rs 9,999. The 10.1-inch netbook runs on Intel’s MeeGo operating system and will come bundled with RCom’s NetConnect USB modem. Consumers will have to pay an upfront amount of Rs 12,499 and will get monthly discounts amounting to Rs 2,500 on their RCom modem bill spread over a few months. The 101H runs on an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.66GHz, 1GB of DDR RAM and a 2.5-inch 250GB SATA hard drive. Asus has pre-installed its app store from where users will be able to download apps for MeeGo. It comes pre-loaded with Open Office and DropBox with 2GB of online storage. We are not really kicked up about its 3-cell battery, which Asus claims can run for about 4 hours. We are also not sure how comfortable users will be to operate MeeGo as compared to the more popular Microsoft Windows operating system. Asus does have a Microsoft Windows 7 Starter Edition version of the netbook but it has not introduced it in India, yet. Read on for the press release.
