Intel has revealed that it will be showing off smartphones powered by its new dual-core and dual graphics platform at the Mobile World Congress next month, reports The Verge. Dubbed as Atom Z2580, the SoC was spotted at the CES in powering the Lenovo IdeaPhone K900.
Where the last year s Z2460 was slow powered by a single-core PowerVR SGX 540 GPU, the Atom Z2580 packs two CPU cores, two PowerVR SGX 544 GPU cores, and a LTE or a faster HSPA+ connection. Intel says it should have double the performance of the previous Atom chip across the board.
Intel hasn t revealed any names for the smartphones yet, but the company s partnership with Lava and Acer could mean that these companies also develop phones using the latest Atom AZ2580 SoC.
