Today marks the second International Yoga Day and it is being celebrated globally and virtually as well. Twitter has joined in the celebration by coming up with a Yoga day emoji which is the Padmasana position. All you have to do is type the hastag #YogaDay and the emoji appears. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Yoga Day celebrations earlier this morning at the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh. Also Read - RIP Fleets! Twitter officially shuts disappearing tweets feature

This is not the first time Twitter has come up with emojis for special occasions in India. Earlier this year, on India’s Republic Day, Twitter had come up with the special Indian tricolor emoji which would appear on using the hashtag #RepublicDay. Last year too, Twitter launched an emoji on Diwali, which was a lamp (diya).
Twitter has come up with special emojis for worldwide occasions as well, the latest being the Euro 2016 emoji. When you type #EURO2016, the emoji of the trophy pops up. But it doesn’t end there. Every competing team has their own special emoji. For example, you have to include #ENG or #TogetherForEngland and the emoji of a football containing the St George’s Cross will pop up. Another sporting occasion was the NBA All Star Game in February, 2016 which had emojis of the players. Typing the player’s first and last name in a hastag did the trick.

International Yoga Day began last year with huge celebrations and it continues today, not only in India but across the globe. People assembled in hundreds and thousands to celebrate Yoga Day. Have you bent it like Modi, yet?
