After launching the Aqua S2 just yesterday, Intex has today launched two new smartphones in its Aqua series, called the Aqua 5.5 VR and Aqua Craze II. The smartphones are priced at Rs 5,099 and Rs 5,990 respectively. While the Aqua 5.5 VR will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting October 19, the Aqua Craze II will be available across retail channels. Talking about the main features of the phones, both smartphones support 4G VoLTE. The smartphones are also pre-loaded with in-house value-added-service, called ‘LFTY’. So when a user swipes from the left, a single screen gives users access to content like video, music, news, shopping, weather, and social media among others. It also comes pre-loaded with apps like Opera Mini, Saavn, LFTY, Matrabhasha and NewShunt. With Matrabhasha feature, users can tweet, text and use WhatsApp in over 21 Indian regional languages including Marathi, Tamil and Bengali. Intex unveiled the Aqua 5.5 VR and Aqua Craze II at the ongoing IGE 2016 event. The company has bundled both the smartphones with various offers. These include two months of unlimited ad-free music download from Saavn Pro, and three months of premium movies and unlimited ad-free video on Viu. Intex is also offering Rs 100 Amazon India gift card along with the smartphones.
Intex Aqua 5.5 VR specifications
The Intex Aqua 5.5 VR flaunts a 5.5 inch HD IPS screen with a display resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Under the hood is a MediaTek 64-bits quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. There is also 8GB of internal storage on offer, which can be further expanded to 32GB via microSD card.
On the camera front, the smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel rear with dual-flash and upfront there is a 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash. The Intex Aqua 5.5 VR comes with 2,800mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the smartphone comes with 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box. Another interesting part of the phone is that it is VR-enabled and supports VR headset for viewing and gaming experience. The Aqua 5.5 VR is nothing but an upgraded version of the Aqua 5.5 HD, which was launched last month for Rs 5,637. Both smartphones come with the same set of specifications except the Aqua 5.5 HD is not VR enabled.
Intex Aqua Craze II specifications
Intex Aqua Craze II is the successor to the Aqua Craze launched earlier this year for Rs 6,190. One thing worth noticing is that though the smartphone comes with upgrades specifications like VoLTE and Android Marshmallow, the price of the Aqua Craze II is less when compared to its predecessor Aqua Craze. As for the specifications, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD display (1280×720 pixels). It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. There is also 8GB internal storage on offer, which is further expandable up to 32GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel auto-focus rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is backed by a 2,500mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box.
Both, the Aqua 5.5 VR and Aqua Craze II, will face tough competitions from the likes of Alcatel Pixi 4, and Lava A97 among others, which are priced at Rs 4,999, Rs 5,949 respectively. The Alcatel Pixi 4 features a 5-inch FWVGA display, 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6735M processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera with flash. The smartphone comes with a 2,000mAh battery and offers connectivity options like dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and microUSB. The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
The Lava A97, on the other hand, comes with a 5-inch FWVGA display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, and 8GB internal memory. There’s also a 5-megapixel rear and front camera which are accompanied by a LED flash, 2,350mAh Li-ion battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G with VoLTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, micro USB port and GPS.
