Apple globally rolled out the latest iOS 11 on Tuesday for iPhone and iPad users. According to a report by web analytics company StatCounter, iOS 11 is now active on 6.2 percent devices globally. It also states that on iOS 11 active devices, internet usage via Safari web browser has reached 6 percent. Apple s OS upgrades are always better in terms of user migration as compared to Google s Android OS. Google recently launched its latest Android OS, Android 8.0 Oreo. But the year old Android Nougat is now active on just about 15 percent of devices. Last month, Apple had published stats of iOS 10 running on 87 percent active devices.

StatCounter s CEO Aodhan Cullen comments on Apple s progress saying, Apple is good at migrating users to its latest iOS upgrades but this performance is particularly impressive. He further adds, Such is the rapid rise of iOS 11 that digital advertisers could soon see an impact due to a feature called Intelligent Tracking Prevention that makes it harder for advertisers and publishers to track users online.

As with every iOS upgrade, iOS 11 also brings a host of new features for iPhones and iPads. Apple has redesigned the AppStore on iOS 11 making apps and games discovery easier. Siri also has a more natural toned voice and can make US English translations into Mandarin, French German, Italian and Spanish. Portrait Mode on the iPhone 7 Plus now has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), HDR, and True Tone Flash with iOS 11. Apple has also introduced new HEIF and HEVC image and video formats to save more space on your iPhones and iPads.
