As expected, Apple has rolled out the stable version of the iOS 11 for compatible devices. The latest operating system is available for users to download in India and globally. iOS 11 brings a host of new features including augmented reality, Photos and Camera app, redesigns, and a more natural Siri.
How to update to iOS 11
As the rollout begins, you should get a prompt on your compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Alternatively, you can head over to Settings -> General -> Software Update. Since it’s an OS upgrade, it is advised that your device has enough space and battery during the update. Alternatively, you can also choose to update via the iTunes app.

As far as the compatibility list goes, iOS 11 will be coming to iPhones including iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, and the iPhone 5s. iOS 11 will also be coming to the 2017 iPad Pro (12.9-inch),2017 iPad Pro (10.5-inch), 2017 iPad (9.7-inch),iPad Pro (9.7-inch), iPad Pro (12.9-inch), iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad Air 2, and the iPad Air. Coming to the most exciting bit of the OS upgrade, these are a few of the new features now available on your iPhones and iPads. To start with, the App Store is redesigned with a new layout,which Apple says is to make apps and games discovery easier. The new App Store now shows detailed information on iOS developers and apps. As opposed to its very robot-like voice, Siri now has a more natural toned voice, and can also translate US English into Mandarin, French German, Italian and Spanish. iOS 11 also brings new features to the Portrait Mode on iPhone 7 Plus including Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), HDR, and True Tone Flash. Apple has also introduced new HEIF and HEVC image and video formats to save more space on your iPhones and iPads. The dull Live Photos has been revived on iOS 11 with effects like loop, bounce, and long exposure. Apple’s Do Not Disturb feature now works while driving, and it will automatically silence notifications. iOS 11 also brings augmented reality apps for iPhones and iPads across different categories like gaming, shopping among others. More features include a redesigned Control Center, and profile creation on Apple Music. With iOS 11, you can also use your Apple ID as an automatic setup for signing into iCloud, Keychain, iTunes, App Store, iMessage, and FaceTime. Apple says that iOS 11 is the “biggest software release ever for iPad”. iOS 11 brings an all-new Dock on the iPad. This Dock provides quick access to favorite and frequently used apps and documents from any screen. There’s a Split View and Slide Over to make it easier to work with multiple apps.
