Apple s iOS 8 has had a bumpy ride ever since its release last year. Yet the platform s adoption has surged in recent times, and the latest figures show that nearly 75 percent of active iOS devices run on iOS 8.The app store distribution page shows the distribution data of App store visitors till March 2 along with the figures for iOS 7 and prior versions. As per the chart, 75 percent of users are using a device running on iOS 8, trailed by 22 percent of people on iOS 7, and three percent on earlier versions. Third party Analytics firm Mixpanel and Fiksu seems to agree with Apple on the iOS 8 adaption rate and the result showcase increased figures with iOS 8 at 78.32 percent, iOS 7 at 20.7 percent and the previous versions at 3.8 percent.
Contrasting the high adoption rate of the iOS 8 is the Android Lollipop adoption rate, which still stands at a paltry 3.3 percent. In the Android world, the dated Jelly Bean still rules the roost, running on nearly 42.6 percent devices, followed by KitKat with a 40.9 percent share.
