Apple is expected to launch a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model, 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 models and a 7.9-inch iPad Pro model. The expected launch date for its new iPad lineup is however stuck between two possible timeframes. Initially, Apple was said to launch new iPads at an event in March. Another report claimed that the Cupertino tech giant would instead hold an event on April 4, where it will unveil the new iPad. Since Apple has not made anything official, the launch date is still being juggled between the two options. The latest report now suggests that if a March launch is possible, it could be done through a press release and not an event. Otherwise, Apple would launch the new iPads on April 4. MacRumors had reported that Apple would be launching new iPads by this week itself and the product expected is the updated 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Considering how Apple usually sends invites for an event ten days prior, the March launch could be far from happening. However, MacRumors further says that if the expected 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 will launch, then it could be announced through a press release and not at an event.
If the March release for the expected iPads does not come through, then all bets are on the April 4 launch date. This day also marks the inauguration for the new Apple Campus which is the 175-acre Apple Park. Apple s new ring-shaped building with a 2.8 million-square-foot main building campus is completely decked with curved glass panel. Apple could hold the iPad Pro launch event at the 1,000-seater Steve Jobs Theater.
The highlight of Apple s new iPad Pro lineup would be the 10.5-inch iPad Pro which is expected to come sans the physical home button and instead opt for an iPhone-like Touch ID sensor below the display. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro will have thinner bezels, but will be as thick as the original iPad Air at 7.5mm. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro is expected to come with Apple s new A10X processors and could also have support for Apple Pencil. Apple could be adding a True Tone display similar to the 9.7-inch version on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. True Tone display uses a technology of advanced light sensors which adapt the color and intensity of the display in accordance to the light in the surrounding environment. The 12.9-inch model is also expected to come with a 12-megapixel rear camera and could also be powered by the new A10x processor. The updated 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 model, on the other hand, is expected to be powered by the A9X chip, hinting at a lower pricing.
The 7.9-inch iPad Pro model which is being referred to as the iPad Mini Pro could feature a Smart Connector, True Tone display, and four speakers. For photography, the 7.9-inch iPad Pro model could sport a 12-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera with True Tone flash. The new iPad Pro lineup are also expected to come with quad microphones.
Along with the expected iPad Pro lineup, the upcoming Apple event is also expected to launch other products. A 128GB storage variant of the iPhone SE is expected along with a new band for the Apple Watch. Apple is also expected to introduce red color variants for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
