Users of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on Airtel are reporting their iPhones have received a carrier settings update. This update enables the LTE toggle, which was earlier limited to 3G. Airtel is planning to launch 4G LTE support for compatible smartphones in Bangalore later this month.
Airtel will be using Circuit Switched FallBack (CSFB) technology to provide 4G services on compatible smartphones to allow them to seamlessly switch between 4G network for data usage and 2G or 3G networks for voice calls and text messages. Like we reported yesterday, the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will be supported.
