The same issue was later verified by Unbox Therapy folks who demonstrated how easily the new larger iPhone was bending. Since then, we have seen several more handsets including the iPhone 5, HTC One (M8), Lumia 1020, new Moto X, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S5, and the Galaxy S4 undergo the bending treatment. So let s see how these phones fared to this challenge that the internet is calling Bendgate.” Also Read - Samsung pips Apple to regain top spot in smartphones priced over Rs 30,000 in India, analyst claims
Unlike the iPhone 6 Plus, the smaller iPhone 6 didn t bend a lot. While there was little warping, it was too little to cry over.
The new Moto X surprisingly didn t bend at all. The handset is pretty robust, and unlike most handsets, it didn t even make any cracking sound. The device remained unaffected regardless of the amount of force that was put in place to bend it.
The HTC One (M8) had a lot of us curios. Much like the iPhones, the handset too sports an aluminum metal body. So will it reflect the same issue as the iPhone 6 Plus? Not really. While the screen of the handset did come out a little, the handset didn t bend at all.
Another device that was put to test was the Nokia Lumia 1020. We are talking about the same company, whose phones are known for their durability and build quality. Several Nokia handsets are already a running joke for their extreme durability, and in the past we have seen a Lumia handset save a cop s life from a bullet. So as you would expect, the Nokia Lumia 1020 remained unaffected and didn t shatter at all.
In another video, the Unbox Theory folks put the Samsung s Galaxy Note 3 to the bendgate test. But unlike the iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung s phablet didn t bend at all. While the phone did warp a little, it regained its original body shape as soon as the tester left it.
Over the last few hours, several other handsets have been put to this test, including the newly announced Galaxy Note 4. While it did not bend like the iPhone 6 phablet, the force applied to the device did shatter the device s screen.
