The IPL 2017 engaged 120 million people in conversation on Facebook, which is the highest ever recorded for an IPL season. The IPL 2017 also recorded 350 million interactions on Facebook related to the season. Just like last year, Virat Kohli, captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team was the most talked about player on Facebook this IPL season this season as well. Amongst the teams, Mumbai Indians were the most talked about. The fact that this IPL season recorded the most number of conversations on Facebook was because of the continuous posts shared. To begin with, the IPL posted videos of team warm-ups before each match on Facebook throughout the 47-day tournament.
Some special moments of the league and off-the-field activities were also shared on Facebook.
