Indian Railway official e-ticketing service Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has finally launched its official Android mobile app to enable users to book tickets on-the-go. Calling it ‘IRCTC Connect’, the app is now available for free download for all Android 4.1 users and above.
The new app lets travellers search and book rail tickets. It lets you check existing reservations, cancel them, and even gives you upcoming journey alerts. The app retains passenger details that are added through the app but fails to update all previous details that you may have entered on the desktop site. The synchronisation with the website is absent, but the biggest drawback is that you cannot access the app between 8.00AM to 12.00PM. During this period, the travellers can only get their bookings done via the IRCTC website or physical booking counters.
Users also complained that there is no option for changing profile password and checking PNR status. However, we expect the app developers to roll out an upgrade soon. The size of the app is 12MB and the interface is pretty simple to use. The app has received 4.3 star ratings from 774 users so far. You can download the app here.
