What this means is that those looking to book train tickets using IRCTC s Connect Android app can now pay for them using the MobiKwik digital wallet. A mobile wallet is a prepaid payment instrument, which allows customers to digitally store money in a secure virtual wallet and use it to pay bills and other services. Nearly 30,000 tickets are booked via IRCTC s Android app daily, and currently around 500 are being paid for by MobiKwik. Both the companies now expect this integration to give a boost to ticket sales via the app.
“Now that MobiKwik is integrated with the IRCTC Connect app, users can experience ‘super-fast, express’ payments and book all their rail tickets in a flash, MobiKwik founder and CEO Bipin Preet Singh said. MobiKwik wallet offering utmost ease and security in transactions, is bound to spike pan India booking of rail tickets via IRCTC mobile app.
This isn t the first time IRCTC has roped in the services of a mobile wallet company. Paytm too has featured integration with IRCTC for payment of tickets. MobiKwik currently partners the likes of Uber, Meru Cabs, Big Bazaar, OYO Rooms, Zomato, and CCD among others. Going forward, the company is said to be in talks to raise around Rs 650 core to drive expansion across online and offline platforms.
