iRobot has launched Roomba 671, a WiFi-connected smart vacuuming robot in India. The Roomba 671 is being distributed by Puresight Systems, the official distributor of US-based iRobot. The Roomba 671 carries a retail price of Rs 37,900, but the launch price is set at Rs 29,900, making it the lowest priced product in the connected vacuum robots segment. The Roomba 671 is designed similar to other vacuuming robots from the company. The disk-shaped vacuum cleaning robot relies on a 3-stage cleaning process and uses indigenously developed motor to effectively clean floors. The robot vacuum clean also has an algorithm that identifies high-density area that needs more cleaning. Like all other iRobot vacuum cleaners, the Roomba 671 also uses company’s patented Dirt Detection Technology to automatically recognize high-footfall areas prone to dust accumulation. It relies on iRobot’s proprietary iAdapt navigation that uses sensors and acoustics to effectively navigate the room. The Roomba 671 is capable of making 60 decisions per second. For cleaning, the Roomba has a multi-surface brushes embedded within the device and an edge-sweeping brush that removes debris from edges and corners.
The iRobot Roomba 671 is WiFi connected and can be summoned to clean from anywhere. The app can be used to schedule cleaning for up to seven times per week. The app also offers status of cleaning and users can receive cleaning reports as well. One of the new features with the Roomba 671 is Amazon Alexa and IFTTT integration.
If you own an Amazon Echo with Alexa in your home then you can enable iRobot Home skill from the app and initiate cleaning process by asking Alexa. Users can also use IFTTT to manually program the vacuuming robot to conditional statements such as “Make Roomba start cleaning after I switch off the TV” with all platforms, services, and products supported by IFTTT.

The iRobot Roomba 671 comes with a home base charging station which acts as cradle for charging the device. The Roomba 671 takes three hours for full charge and can be used to vacuum for 90 minutes. One the battery status becomes low, the Roomba 671 automatically returns to its base charging station. The product is available with 2 years of warranty on the robot vacuum and 1 year on the battery.
