The iPhone 6 Plus bending fiasco has divided consumers into two groups. One believes that iPhone 6 Plus is genuinely prone to bending, while the other thinks that this all is a conspiracy to jeopardize iPhone 6 sales. Some believe that the original video in which Lou of Unbox Therapy easily bent the iPhone 6 Plus with his bare hands is doctored. First spotted by Pocket-Lint, the clock displayed on the iPhone 6 Plus proves that the video wasn t shot in one go. While Lou asserts that he had to retake the shot to avoid glare, Apple fanboys among others are sure that he did this to use some sort of machinery to bend the device and deceit the viewers. Apple said that in the first 6 days since the iPhone 6 Plus launch, only nine people with such issue had contacted it. The company maintains its stance on the high durability of its iPhones. Last week, it invited a handful of journalists to tour its secret lab at Cupertino where its new devices are put to tested before going into user s hands.
Apple claims were later verified by Consumer Reports, a non-profit organisation. According to which the iPhone 6 Plus isn t any bendier than HTC One (M8), and a bunch of other smartphones including the iPhone 6.
One thing that needs to be noted, though is that in all the stress tests we have seen, including Apple s and Consumer Reports , it is the centre and the edges of the handset that had been put against the high pressure. According to Lou, the middle of the iPhone 6 Plus isn t the weakest point of the device, as mentioned in his videos the iPhone 6 Plus bends when you put pressure right below the volume keys. So in a way, demonstrating how the new iPhone is able to resist any deformity when forced from the middle and sideways doesn t really give us the whole picture.
Meanwhile, Lou has done one more video, this time in the streets surrounded by lots of people, and demonstrated yet again how easy it is to bend the iPhone 6 Plus. What’s your thought on this? Share with us in the comments below.
