Xiaomi is set to host yet another flash sale for the Redmi 1S tomorrow on Flipkart. The sale is to begin at 2PM tomorrow and if last week’s flash sale is any testimony, tomorrow’s sale could finally see an end to the ‘selling-out-in-seconds’ tradition that Xiaomi has been so proud of, since the past couple of months. Last week’s sale saw more than 300,000 customers participating in the flash sale where only 90,000 units were up for grabs (less than what has been previously put up). However the sale, deviating from tradition, did not sell out in seconds. Unlike previous sales, no official announcement regarding the time of the seventh flash sale was also made by the company.
Xiaomi’s head of India operations, Manu Jain confirmed to BGR India over email that the sale lasted over a minute and speculated that this deviation could be due to Diwali travel plans of customers. “We believe this was because of people traveling during the festive period. We do not believe that this is of any concern, as we continue to see overwhelming response from our fans, even for next week s sale.”
It remains to be seen if tomorrow’s sale will see a similar response as last week, as customers are finally experiencing fatigue over these flash sales, or the Redmi 1S will revive its popularity and regain its position of selling out in seconds. The company has not yet announced the number of units that will be up for sale at 2.00PM tomorrow, but just like last week, the Redmi 1S buyers won t be receiving the complimentary screen protector and micro-SIM adapter.
Additionally, Flipkart and Xiaomi both have not disclosed the number of people that have already registered for tomorrow’s sale. The registration window for the flash sale tomorrow will be open till midnight. So if you haven t registered for tomorrow, you have till midnight to be eligible for buying the phone.
Apart from last week’s sale, all the other flash sales saw the Redmi 1S go out of stock in a matter of seconds. In the previous seven sales, Xiaomi has managed to sell 580,000 units of the Redmi 1S in India, and 150,000 units on Flipkart s Big Billion Day sale. The previous six flash sales were over in 4.2 seconds, 4.5 seconds, 3.4 seconds, 5.2 seconds, 13.9 seconds and 4.2 seconds respectively.
