Interestingly, Xiaomi has started a new Twitter handle especially for its Redmi lineup of smartphones. As seen above, the teaser just about shows the price tag Rs 5,999. If we were to hazard a guess, it could be a price cut for the Xiaomi Redmi 2 by Rs 1,000, which is in line with recent announcements. Alternatively, it could also be an exchange offer for the Redmi Note 4G, which brings the price of the phablet further down to Rs 5,999.
Xiaomi recently slashed the price of the Redmi Note 4G, which is now available for Rs 7,999. It also slashed prices of the Mi 4, whereby the 64GB is available for Rs 19,999, while the 16GB variant is now available for Rs 14,999.
To refresh, the Redmi 2 sports a 4.7-inch HD IPS display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor, paired with Adreno 306 GPU. The smartphone also features an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 2,200mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots supporting LTE, Wi-Fi, USB OTG, and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on MIUI 6 out-of-the-box.
